I deeply thank Senators @BernieMoreno, @SenTimKaine, and @SenSchumer for the productive conversations I had with each of them regarding Venezuela. The Venezuelan people have strong allies who understand the historic opportunity that a genuine transition to democracy represents, as well as the importance of a free, prosperous, and secure Venezuela as a reliable partner of the United States and the hemisphere. Thank you, Senators, for your commitment and solidarity with our nation, and for being strong voices in defense of our cause. -
I am always deeply moved and energized whenever I meet with my dear friend @AlinejadMasih. We spoke about the unfolding massacre in Iran and how authoritarian regimes cooperate across borders, and why those who stand for freedom must do the same. I am shocked by the sheer brutality of the Islamic Republic, killing thousands of its own citizens who were peacefully protesting. I call on world leaders to condemn this barbaric regime. Today we are witnessing how, from Iran to Venezuela, people who have been oppressed time and again still choose hope, and how women have been at the forefront of this courage. Our shared struggle is living proof that solidarity among those who defend liberty is much stronger than any alliance among dictators! Venezuela and Iran will be free!! -
Thank you, Chairman Brian Mast and all members of the House Foreign Affairs Committee for a very productive meeting. On behalf of the Venezuelan people, I deeply appreciate your bipartisan support for our democratic transition. I thank Members of Congress from both parties, as well as Donald Trump and his administration, for their decisive actions to dismantle the regime’s criminal structures. The first, unequivocal step forward is the release of all political prisoners and an end to repression. A free Venezuela will be the strongest and most strategic ally of the United States in the hemisphere. -
